Painted tondo of a Red-figure Greek vase attributed to Sosias showing Achilles tending a wounded Patroclus.
The two warriors stand on a ground bulged by a rounded elevation. On the left, in front of Patroclus, an arrow is stuck in the ground at an angle, certainly the arrow which wounded Patroclus and which Achilles removed. Below the ground, the remaining semi-circle between the horizontal line of the ground and the curve of the edge of the cup is filled with a stylized plant motif.
Achilles tending Patroclus wounded by an arrow, identified by inscriptions on the upper part of the vase. Tondo of an Attic red-figure kylix, dated ca. 500 BC. From Vulci / Antikensammlung Berlin
