Barad-dûr, also known as the Dark Tower, is a fortress built by Sauron in The Lord of the Rings. It stands near the volcano Mount Doom in Mordor and serves as a symbol of Sauron’s power. The name “Barad-dûr” is Sindarin for “Dark Tower”, with “Barad” meaning “great towering building” and “dûr” meaning “dark”. In the Black Speech, it’s called Lugbúrz, which means “Dark Fortress”.
